Okay, I have an 84' Z28. Its a 305 non-hypo and to be quite honest, its not what I was expecting. With a 305, i was expecting something that was fast. But it just seems like the 305 isnt. So, im thinking about installing an electric supercharger. I can get one for about 50 bucks. I know it forces more air through the intake. Has anybody ever had any experience with one? Do they really increase horsepower? Thanks alot guys-and gals.

Your 305 is slow becuase it was made in an era when GM and other car companies had no other practical means to control emmisions besides cutting power. In fact, your '84 v8 makes less power than my 2000 fuel injected V6.

Now if you want more power, great, but an electric supercharger wont do squat. You can rebuild your 305 with performance parts, swap it out for a larger/more powerfull engine, add a supercharger/turbo charger and/or put a N20 kit on it.

Don't discount that 305 entirely, there is some potential in it.

As for the electric "super"charger for around $50

For $5 I'll sell you the leaf blower I've had laying around I haven't fixed yet. :(

Ha, so I guess the electric supercharger just wont do anything. oh well, i was just asking about the supercharger because I don't have a garage and pretty much no means to rebuild anything at all. Ill find a way to increase HP. It already has an MSD box and a K&N filter. Any other cheap or simple add-ons you can think of?

I have taken off three electric superchargers so far. I had a young man come into the shop complaning of engine problems. I found that the charger was leaning his motor to the danger point. Plugs looked like casper. The vac pressure monitor had been ruined. You can go alot further with a nice intake, carb, or cam package.
