The search wasnt working so forgive me if thit has already been visited.

As i refresh my HB i located a set of 1989 Prelude seats, will they bolt in to my 89 Civic HB? I dont mind if i have to change brackets i just want to avoid and welding.

Thanks

No, they wont bolt in, and you can't change the brackets for civic ones.. you either have to change the seat pan, or deal with only having one rail bolted in... the outside rails will bolt in, the insides almost definitely won't...

This can be fixed if you don't mind tack welding or riveting or bolting.

You can drill off the steel rivets that hold the bolt hole areas on the seat rails of both seats (inside of the prelude and inside of the civic rail) The Civic rail bolt hole will be wider, so you'll only be able to use one hole, but you can put a small carriage bolt and nut on it, and it will hold perfectly, or you can just thru-weld it, and that will hold it even better.

Or just do what I do, and leave the inside rails loose, (I have '91 'lude Si seats in my '88 LX) although it will be a pain in the ass to adjust the seat, so you'll want to adjust it once it's in, and never move it again. (Forward/backward.)

I guess i could weld the brackets on, it doesnt sound to difficult.
How do the seats feel in the car, do they fit good?

Mine are just so worn out. I used to have a 1986 Prelude and i remember the seats being pretty supportive.

My friend had Prelude seats in his 4th gen std hatch. It was a very clean car with the lude seats, 13" rims and a talking stereo. The car was split in half in an accident and completely put back together. I almost bought it but got my crx instead (which I'm glad because I wouldn't be able to stand a car that slow)

The 'lude seats are nice.. they sit as low as the CRX seats do, but they're more back-supportive, and the driver's seat (in the Si at least) has adjustable side bolsters.. memory function for the seat back, etc.

They're pretty pimp, IMO, I love them.
