2005 Gtp Failure!

I have a 2005 GP GTP. Standard 3800 V6 SC with around 63,000 miles on it. About a month ago I was getting a code cylinder 2 misfire and cylinder 2 injector cycle open. The car bareley ran. When it did it was blowing severe white smoke that smelled like gas (it burned a quarter tank in 10 miles trying to get it home). Replaced the fuel injector in cylinder 2, fixed the problem. Today I go to leave home and the smoke starts along with the flashing check engine light, then it stalls. When I finally get it started up again none of my gauges work (gauges not working is a new issue). It has all the same symptoms of my fuel injector cycle issue but now the gauges don't work and it wont get a reading from my OBDII tester. It says "failure to link, try again?" . What could this be? The computer itself? more failing injectors? The car is too new and the parts are far to expensive to be nickel and diming this. Please somebody give me some helpful advice!

Sounds a little odd. Usually water or oil will burn white (the water is actually steam) and too much gas will burn black. We're you running under full boost on regular unleaded gas? I did this and broke a piston and that's exactly how mine ran when it happened. Lots of white smoke, very bad gas mileage and constant stalling. But if the computer is hosed you may need to have the dealer put it on a tech 2 scanner. That costs $95 at the dealer here but it will tell you exactly what's wrong.

hey man, check all your fuses first. There is no reason your scanner shouldnt interface with our car. I suspect a blown fuse maybe fore the interior that supplys poer to your guages along with your scan tool.

The smoke is any time the car is on. It doesn't matter if I am accellerating or not. And I have never ran anything other than Premium. Oil change with full synthetic every 3,000, new plugs and wires. I am just at a loss.

Might want to do a compression check on the motor to diagnose anything major wrong mechanically before you get ahead of yourself.

Well I stumbled upon the problem. One of the plugs on my ECM was loose and did not have a good seal. So I coated the contacts in Di-electric grease and lined the plug with silicone sealer and it has been fine ever since. Now let me replace my fowled spark plugs, and my catalytic converter because it is shot after all of that gas was flowing through my exhaust and maybe I will get some half way descent gas mileage again. Also... My digital message center in the car was giving me service traction, ABS, and Stability systems messages. When I jacked up my car I noticed the wires had fell out of the speed sensor. This GTP that I have doesn't have regular speed sensors to replace... OH NOOOO... it’s BUILT INTO THE HUB!!! So to fix the faulty wiring on this sensor, I had to replace the whole hub.... I love the car... when it works!

wow, nice when there is a cheap simple fix for something that seems almost like a major mechanical issue.

Glad to hear you have it going again.
