I just installed a new pair of 6x9's on the rear deck of my car. After hooking them up and screwing them in, i tested them out and they worked fine, but after about 10 seconds they quit working. Not just one of them, but both of them stopped. Although both 6x9's stopped, the two stock 5.25's on the rear deck are still working fine :S

Any ideas?

dumb question but did u buy 2 ohm speakers becasue it sounds like u have them connected to the head unit and most head units aren't 2 ohm stable.

I took the original wires which were soldered straight to the stock speakers and soldered on new connectors that came with the new speakers.

And the new speakers are 4 ohm's. Here is a link to them.

My car is a 98 grand prix GT with 8 speakers. Just replaced the stock delco speakers.

Quick update. Today i unplugged the new speakers and plugged in the stock pairs...and they didnt work either, but they had worked before i took them out. :S Really confused as to what may be the problem.

sounds like you have blown something, probably the internal amp ..... most likely because you had 2 sets of speakers on eash amp channel.

I dont see how that would have blown it seeing as that's the stock setup, but i do think i would have to agree with you now.

Earlier my radio was acting rather funny. I turned it on, and when i tried to turn it up, it turned the volume all the way back down, and wouldnt let me get past just a couple of notches. Then i did a balance test and the right front speaker is not producing any noise, which is weird because i haven't touched this speaker at all..... Soooo, sounds like i need a new reciever?

is this the factory reciever or an aftermarket one ?

It is the factory reciever... I was planning on getting a new reciever but i wanted to keep my steering wheel controls for one, and the reciever i was going to get sold out..
