Worth $200?

Think this head is worth $200? Well, $260 including shipping. Guy claims its a D16Z6 complete head. Please reply back, I need to know by 8:00 tonight.

It looks like a v-tec motor to me! It should be stamped on the front part of the head. U should also see a v-tec solenoid. I think its worth it.

Thanks alot mellowboy. It looks like a pretty complete head. Just need the wire harness and ECU. Only thing is, I dont really wanna spend $260 and the damn thing has a valvetrain problem!

valvetrain problem? like what exactly? does it need valve seals, or new valves? if it needs either of those its not hard to fix and its not too expensive, is it the whole motor your getting? or just the head?

I dont think it has a valvetrain problem. I was just saying if it did, (vavle tap..ect) would it be a waste of $260.

I'm just getting the complete head. Not the whole motor. Its Vtec, so it says. D16Z6 is Vtec, so I'm just gonna buy it and take a chance.

oh alright, its just the way u worded it that made me think there was a valvetrain prob. i hope everything works out for u and hope its not a waste of money!

not to piss on your parade....but that mini me set-up is shady. you really should just save $1-300 more and find a complete d16z6 if you're looking for reliability.

again, not looking to start some big ass argument. let me tell you this. i once picked up a vtec head. i'm glad i thought twice and waited a little longer. vtec head $250.....shortly after i found a 12,000 mi y8 (sohc vtec) for $500. no brainer why i chose the y8 over a vtec head on my 112,000 block.

Is the D16Y8 head better than the D16Z6?

Also, will it fit on my 91 D15B1 block?

it would fit but don't do it. listen to ami on this one. i had bought a d16y8 head and was going to put it on until i found out it has the tendency to overheat because of bad oil circulation. and you would def. have to do a dx to si conversion b/c dpfi just won't put out enough fuel for it. the right way to do it is get the whole motor, intake manifold, dizzy, ecu and so on. but i sold the head and am in the process of getting a zc. but IMO don't buy it.

agreed, mini-me setup gets very hot (overheats) and all in al not very unreliable, i say wait and save up for the whole engine, you wont regret it :-D

Well, so much for the D16Z6 head. God damn asshole outbid me on the last minute. God that pisses me the hell off!

WALT - I was going to do a MPFI swap also. The DFPI sucks! Thats why I'm looking for a 'complete' head. I'm doing the Vtec head, Si tranny, and MPFI conversion all at the same time.

ummm, a complete head is just the head. for multi-port conversion you would need the complete Si intake mani.

Umm, that head was coming with the intake manifold. Look at the pic.

everyone should check this out for their VTEC/ECU needs zdyne (http://www.zdyne.com/) im gonna do this and ive heard good things about people using this
