Hi
I know on the forum there have been plenty of discussions about Mclaren mp4 paint.
I am doing a Mp4/4. I can't get past the "tub", because I stuffed up the clear coat on it. So I had to strip it all back and start again. I am still learning to use my airbrush. The only thing I really hate is, cleaning it all the time!
My questions are, has anybody used the Zero paints Mclaren Red?
It's supposed to be 99.9% match. It looks more 'orange'

I still really like the Finishers mp4 red, but it is hard to get of the web.
Tips on airbrushing?
I want to remove to nose cone from the cowling, what can I use?
If I can get a digital camera I will post some pics of what I have done so far. My skills are intermediate, but still learning.
Thanks
Nick

FYI, Mclaren red from the era of Marlboro sponsorship is more orange. It's was one of those things where they adjusted the real color on the car so it would look better on TV, so when they were done it came out a more fluorescent color or orange in effect.

The Zero McLaren red is a better match in my opinion and it does have that more 'orange' look to it.I used the Finisher's MP red when I built my MP4/5B and although it does look good it's more complicated to apply the 3 different layers and it does lack some of that 'orange' look.I think the Zero paint is a better route to take and also a lot easier to apply.Just my :2cents:

I think I have to agree with steve!
I have both colors in my stash and for me the zero paint looks like a really really good match. And it's easier to apply because you have one coat less.
But both colors are great to work with so it just depends on what you prefer.

I have taken some photos with a web cam of the "Tub" . I still have to CF the other side. Haven't been in the mood.

I have done some CF. This had to be done all again after I stuffed the clear coat.
If u think the pics don't look to bad I will start a proper thread. 'cause I don't have digital camera
