96 cutlass ciera starting problem

i just put a new battery when i try to start everything shut down. no light inside the car nothing . i take off the battery and put it back half an hour later i got light power doors everything but again when i try to start it still
does the same . and with my old battery the engne turn but not enough power to start. is it possible that this battery does not fit in this car i dont know . if somebody have an idea please reply thanks.
