Ordered and got this a couple weeks ago at work, but finally got around to playing with it since it's slower now.

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g291/david-b/0114081453b.jpg

It's a vinyl cutter. I have rolls of black and white vinyl, and this machine cuts out text or logos or anything I send to it from the computer. It's like a printer, with with a little micro blade on it that actually cuts the patterns out. This is my first time ever seeing one, or using one, so I was excited. So I tried it out.

This is what I'm Supposed to be using it for.

Pulled up the Eagle logo Brian had, converted it quickly to a vectored image, and "printed" it. It's hard to see when it's actually cut on the vinyl. So I pulled out the "negative" off the sheet. It's a sticker on the other side. Pretty sweet. $3k for the machine with my discounts.

Oh man!!! I'm jealous dude. Those things are nice and I've always wanted one...

Is this at work or at home that you got this? I had thought about investing in one to do vinyl work at the side. There can be great money in that if you get enough people wanting stuff made.

And hurray for my awesome Eagle logo I made. lol :p

Damn haven't been here in a while.

It's peel and stick. Sticks really well too. I also have big 30"x200' rolls of clear tape that goes over it then to seal it.

PM me for anything.

You would really charg your brotheren? "Choose your next words wisely, as they may be your last."

david-b

Would have to. The vinyl rolls are $75, the tape is $80 a roll, and then have to factor in blades, time, and shipping :)

Wouldn't be bad. It's really not that expensive when you think about it. But the money would go right back into my work budget. I wouldn't be making anything off of it :(

So just black and white. Kinda like something you would put on a window? Sweet! I'm still thinking about what I want.

Dave, I'll PM you the logo I want done when I get a little time. I'd need three triangle window stickers like 5"x8" in white. Any rough idea on cost? How precise is the knife?

Very very precise. I'll do some small work and take some pics. The blades are $45 per set of 3. When assembling, I cut myself on this little bastard numerous times.

I actually ended up not getting the white in yet. It's on backorder and have to check status on it. Damn suppliers.

EDIT: Actually I'm thinking now, the image would have to be reversed since it would be on the inside of the window. So put that into consideration please. Again, vectored images are best

For the inside... is that 12w the width of the window at the bottom? I'm going to print some up today

Cut and one is peeled out. It's reverse because it will go on the inside. Going to take awhile to get all the letters up there and I hope they stick.

Why would you put it on the inside? I think we should make some that say DSM south meet or something and have them at the meet.

Because I'm not sure how well it's going to hold up on the outside yet. There periods are small enough to begin with. Plus I don't want it that visible. I'm not a fan of stickers or anything, but will show AF love.

SilvrEclipse

Thats a good call Dave. Im not a big fan or stickers either. Putting it on the inside wouldn't make it stick out to much. I like that idea a lot.

I guess Dave is going to be the man of the hour at the South Meet.

Can I get with Dave?
 :uhoh:

The stickers should hold up on the outside pretty well. I've had a few small "logos" on my quarter windows that have been pretty small and they stick just fine. Just make sure you clean the window before you put the stickers on.

Ya I didn't get around to it last night. Worked on the car, but didn't get to do that. This weekend for sure though.
