I was wondering if anyone knows how i would go about fixing it. It has been broke for awhile but I had a pair of vice grip pliars hooked onto the cable and that was working for awhile but now the cable finally broke and slid to far back for me to grab it. I'm curios to know what I have to do to replace and it and approximately how much it would cost me to do it myself (if I can) or how much it would be to take it to the shop. Thanks in advance

I called a GMC Service Center and they told me the part and the labor together is 174.00 I guess the cable itself is only 34.00 and the labor is the rest. If the labor is that much I take it its probably pretty hard to fish the wire through? Does anyone know for sure how hard it is? Thanks

Does anyone know how to pop the hood with a screw driver? I tried taking the grill off but I couldn't get it off with the hood closed, so I tried stiking a screw driver under the hood but had no luck. If someone could give me some pointers I would really appreciate it thanks.

hopefully you have this taken care of by now, if not try this. you need a radiator hose tool.looks like a large pick with the end twisted around. you can get on the release lever with this to pop the hood. might be easier to cut away some of the cable cover and use your vice grips to grab the cable and open. replacing the cable is very easy, takes about 20 minutes. a couple of items have to be moved on the left fender to thread the replacement through but it's not a major event.
