Electrical Disaster or not...

Hi All
Will try and keep this as short as possible while best trying to descrbe problems.I have a 93 geo metro 3 cyl 1.0 litre automatic.Problems started a couple of weeks ago i would get intermittent starts.You could shut it off then may start maybe not.I got stuck at grocery store and took a wire and touched battery terminal at solenoid to starter terminal at solenoid there was juice there but did not turn over.I was thinking OK solenoid,,,came back next day put solenoid in it fired up and had no problems for a couple of days.
Then same thing started again with additional things.With new solenoid on and not starting took a 12 volt light checked for power at solenoid there was.Checked at other terminal with helper attempting to start was getting power flash 12 volts so i am thinking OK it was the starter.When it would start here's the thing,there are no blinkers when running,i have to manually move the auto shifter to get it outta park via the pull thingy at bottom the release.Also it is not automatically shifting thru gears must do manually.This is odd not sure if part of problem or not but brakes lately seem to go down much farther then should,,,all pads shoes rotors and drums are good,just thought i would throw that in.
Put new starter on today and seems to be starting so far but still no blinkers,not shifting have the console off under shifter that little switch is not moving when i step on brake and push button on shifter to move outta park.I have visually checked all fuses under dash and big ones under hood.My brother brought me 2 relays from a wreck for that main box under hood no idea what they are [have haynes manual to me it is useless] that have rubber covers and attach to that main box and nothing different.Reading electrical diagrams haven't a clue so any pics would be great.
I love my geo and have often bragged was the best deal i ever got had 145,000 km now 202.000 km cost me 450.00 and has needed nothing but routine maitenance.Even did a TBI mod LOL.It has been making me money for the last 18 months as i do deliveries.
Any and all suggestions and comments welcome throw it out there thanks.Am not able to get it to mechanic for a week being booked up so he says.
