just recently I started noticing that when I start my s-10 up that at an idle spped I hear this sorta moaning sound and so I climbed up on the front end and started listening to see where the sound was coming from and it seems as though it is coming from the power steering pump and so now I am wondering if this is a sign that it is going bad??? if so how do I replace it and then bleed the system? I am going to try and fix the high pressure hose first becaus I notice some build up on this hose but I am not seeing any fluid actually leaking. Anyways how would I bleed the system out after that?

Have you checked the power steering fluid level?

Taking the hose off the pump that's held with a clamp is the low pressure side. You might try draining the fluid out there then install new fluid and see if that helps the moan.

yes i have checked the fluid and it is full that is why i am asking if the moaning is a sign of pump failure. then if i have to replace the pump how do i bleed the system?

My '92 is moaning a little too but as long as the steering is easy and there's no leaks, I have no problem with it.

The steering box doesn't have a fluid drain so it'll retain some fluid when you change the pump. After installing the new pump and filling with new fluid, you can drive the truck a few minutes then take the clamp on line loose from the pump, drain the fluid then reinstall the clamped line, refill with more new fluid to get a good flush to you system without a lot of trouble.
