stuck gearbox

In my manual 5 speed 2000 Eclipse GT the clutch feels spongy and the gearbox is really sticky. This morning I thought I wasn't going to be able to drive it because it wouldn't change gears at all. Finally I slammed my foot down on the clutch and it finally went into first gear. After that while driving it sounded like it was going to stall and every time i changed gears it sounded like it was scraping, like the clutch couldn't go down far enough to release the gears. What do I dooo?

Well...easy steps first. Make sure you have tranny fluid, make sure your clutch line is bled with plenty of clean fluid and make sure your connections from the clutch pedal to the gear box are clean and lubed. After that it could be a number of things. Your synchros might be shot (SOL on that one), your clutch might be blown (again, not a cheap fix). If it was real cold out than the clutch will feel real shitty and the shift lever will be real gummy until everything gets to temp...if that isnt the case, and the first few things I said were good then it's probably one of the latter, or something else. Take it to a mechanic and have them look at it.

Thanks. It was really cold outside, and I figured I'd wait and let it warm up for like 15 minutes and try and loosen everything up. I think it'll be fine, but I'll take it in anyway.
