Brake Pads

It's time to change pads on my newly acquired '97 328i.

Currently stock pads & rotors - fine but very dusty.

What do you like in pads for normal (ok - aggressive) street use?

Any experience on Mintex vs. Pagid?

I'm pretty confident on changing them myself, though I haven't done it before. Any good source for instrutions on bleeding brakes without a power bleeder?

How about rotors? How do I know when they're too thin and need to be changed? Are all the brands of (non drilled) rotors pretty much the same?

use axxis ultimate brake pads...very good. low dust.

this is for street and track. highly recommended i have a set also!

use euro floaters rotors up front...it's a two piece. it helps disipate heat better than US rotors.

You can't beat Brembo rotors for the long haul. I am quite confident that Pagid are the OEM, and the fade in articles I have read is horrid. Go for Brembo rotors, I have seen the best results from the cross-drilled ones.

I understand that cross-drilled rotors will dissipate heat better in extreme conditions, but it seems to me that the loss in surface area and in strength wouldn't be a good tradeoff for normal driving.

Any well-founded opinions?
