2007 Taurus Keyless Entry

Thought I would try again since I received no replies. Bought an '07 SE. Although keyless entry was supposed to be standard equipment, it was deleted according to the window sticker. What would I need to install the factory system?

It really wouldn't be worth the effort to install the factory system when you could get an aftermarket system for a lot less. The aftermarket install would probably be easier too.

With a good service manual, Fords are quite easy to install keyless entry into.

I know that an aftermarket solution might be cheaper but the thought of me or someone else messing with the wiring dosen't thrill me. I've seen bad things happen. Wouldn't the factory method consist of a different GEM module and fobs? Or is there more to it.

Honestly I'm not sure what all would need to change on a 2007 to install factory keyless. It wouldn't surprise me if you'd need to have the PCM reflashed since the 2007 probably uses the CAN protocol and all the modules may need to play together and be aware of each other. It's not quite as straightforward as a USB system on your home computer.

If done right, an aftermarket keyless entry system should provide years of troublefree service. Solder and properly insulate the wires, mount and route cleanly and you'll be good.

trust me
my 06 taurus didnt have keyless entry either...
just go to a reliable aftermarket installer

i had it done for 149.99.....
could have had keyless and a remote start for 229....

the dealer charges between 80-120 for just the key, if you need a second...
which you do need at least two keys to install a factory entry system.:banghead:
not to mention you need to buy the actually remote(s)...
(s) <--- god know what they charge for those...

then youre going to look at the actual wiring, and hardware + labor....

i know its nice to be 100% factory...but its not worth it..

on the other hand...if ure car was advertised with keyless entry
the dealership should pay for the install....worked for me...had to go to the Better Business Bureu.....but i saved 149.99

As a tech in this department I can certainly understand your concerns, however, I think you might win the battle but lose the war (as they say) because the big problem with all factory systems is that every thief knows EXACTLY how to disable them :smooch: Some systems are disabled as easily as just smashing a taillight lens (which shorts out the circuit board). The better aftermarket systems don't have this type of problem. Just make sure that whomever is touching your car is MECP certified.
