Well, the girl who came to the US for the sole purpose of a heart and lung transplant has been taken off of life support due to clinical death(brain dead). What makes it worse is the fact that all the doctor would have had to have done was verify the blood types of the new organs, and he didnt, which cost a teen girl her chance at life. I personally hope he is sued from house and home, loses his medical license permenantly, and serves time in jail. This occurance taking place at Duke University doesnt help them out much either, they are one of the best Medical Universities in the country(from what Ive heard). This just goes to show that stupidity can kill.

Indeed, I watched a show on the discover channel on malpractice in the US. It turns out when someone dies because of malpractice, the it is the responsibliity of the doctor who performed the surgery to report it, and if he does not, there are no repercussions for him.
There were thousands of cases of death through malpractice that were not reported in the last decade. Okay, no operation goes perfectly, but when the doctor in quetion makes a serious error, and someone dies for it, they should at least be willing to deal with the consequences. There's a reason it takes eight years to become a Medical Doctor, and that reason is that doctors make life and death decisions for people.
I was shocked to see how little accountability there was, especially when dealing with HMO's.
