98 ford contour overheating

my gf and i have a 98 ford contour, that is over heating ever since she drove the car home without the serpentine belt on it, she said it broke on the way home and the car started to over heat shortly after it broke, so i replaced the t-stat and gaskets thinking it was a bad t stat and i put a new belt on it and it still over heats what should i do now i am at a loss, can some help me?
and it does not blow any hot air into the car it only blows cold air,
any help would be great

That is one senerio, If it overheated and you had it apart, was the system blead right after instalation of the new thermo.

no it wasn't, how do you go about bleeding the system its a 2.0 4 banger

I am not sure if there is a bleeder on that vehical for the cooling system or not.
So here goes.
pop off the raid. cap when the car is cold, fire it up and let it sit there and run for a good while.
The level of the antifreeze in the raideator will start to rize and lower in the tank.may even blow some coolant out as the engine is burped. Keep an eye on this as you will have to add fluid when the thermostat opens as the level will drop like right now and you have to be filling at the same time when it is needing more fluid.
It will stabilize and appear to be full, it may not be.this usually does this like 2-4 times before it stabilizes.
Let it keep running and wait untill the thermostat opens again.
The fluid will drop and you need to be adding at the same time.
When the thermostat opens and the coolant level stays to the top of the raidiators cap, it is full.
Some radiators allow you to see the fluid moveing and you can feel it is hot.
Put the cap on and fill your over flow jug to the hot line with coolant.
Drive your car and keep an eye on the fluid level in the jug.
It may go low as it will feed the radiator as needed.so keep an eye out for the first day or so of steady driving a good distance. Mater fact, drive it right away for a good half hour. In town driveing helps burp an engine quicker.
