Front passenger door won't open '99 Aurora

There is no way I can get the door open. The window works. It will not open with a key, the key fab, manually moving the inside lock or by using the inside handle. My mechanic said there is something wrong inside the door but if he can't open the door, he can't take the panel off to find out what is wrong. This used to happen occassionally when the passenger would try to open the door before I unlocked it and by starting the car and putting it in gear and out of gear a couple of time, it would open. But not any more.

Please don't tell me to go to a new mechanic, this guy is good and reasonable and has fixed everything else. I am trying to avoid going to the dealership.

Anyone have any ideas?

Did you get your car door open? Sounds like something came loose, inside the door. Other than calling a locksmith. You used to be able to buy a tool, called a slim jim. That you could slide down inside the door, from the outside. And either push down, or pull up, on the locking mechanism, depending on the type of car. and unlock the door.
