Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for the most rugged, best and easiest to fix off road vehicle.
Browsing around I narrowed my choices to Toyota Land Cruiser FJ 40 (post 1975) and Dodge Ram.
What's your experience and recommendation?

It depends on what you're wanting to do with it. If you're wanting a dedicated off road only rig or a mix between offroad and DD or something to just go through the mud every once in a while. If you're wanting a dedicated offroad only rig then the ultimate would be a tube chassis custom built, then after that fullsize trucks with a v8 engine or old jeep cj's and such with v8's would offer the power to get the tires crawling over rocks and slinging mud. Best thing to do is decide what size tires you want to use and how high you want to lift and then find a vehicle that can accommodate that combo. Let us know exactly what you're planning on doing with it whether it's dedicated trail rig or a mix or what and we'll have plenty of suggestions for you.

Thanks, I'll try to be as specific as I can, what I can do is provide a list of what I am looking for ranking from the most important to the least:
1- a reliable engine which is easy to work on (carburetor?)
2- very sturdy construction, tough body panels
3- customizable suspension which would allow me to tailor the truck to wherever I end up living (likely to be mountains with seasonal snow)
4- enough space for 4 people
5- enough power/clearance to drive over or pull a fallen tree
6- doesn't need premium
Hope this helps.

What you want is an older chevy blazer, 1972 -1975, somewhere in that area.
Modify it as you see fit and have all the luxuries.
Room for people and storage, removable roof, turns on a dime, off road and snow ready and so much more.
I took a 1975 blazer and mounted a 1949 willies jeep body to the frame.
5 year project and it turned out great.
