is a code 9 common?

the other day i was driving around town and then my check engine light came on and my ecu was throwing a code 9, wich is something like the cylinder pressure or something.... i took the cap off and was looking in there.... then i put the cap back on, and the car wouldnt start anymore, i think the bearings were worn and there were these things way in the back of the distributor like coils that were frayed and loose.... my buddy said that he's gotten a code9 before wich usually is from a worn distributor so he got a new one... so i guess i'm gonna get a new one too.... has any of you gotten code9's??

Code 9 (9 flashes) No. 1 cylinder position (1.6L)

I am having this problem too.
The problem is inside your distributer. Possibly the bearings, maybe even the rotor.
I havent had time to examine mine. But I'm posative that's where the problem is.

yea, i guess it can be fixed or rebuilt or something but i'd rather just get one from the junk or if not, then just get a new lifetime warrantied one from the store.......

I had the same problem, had to replace the distributor.

hey i just got my new distributor put it on, and it started right up like nothing.... but i havent done the timing yet, the engine sounds fine the way it is right now, but i've still got that code 9 flashing...... what else could it be if the distributor was newly remanufactured from autozone?? I dont think the timing would have to do with it, would it?

If i am correct i think you have to reset your ecu cause it will store a code in thier until reset

is that a fact? so how would you reset your ecu? is there more than one way to do it or just pull the plug on it?

to reset the ecu, pull the harzard fuse for 1 minute or pull the neg. battery cable for 1 min. Codes gone and ecu reset. When you start the car up, don't hit the gas and let it idle untill the raditor fan comes on.

Beat the hell out of it? I will look in the service manual for ways to fix the code 9.

you need to pull the ecu fuse under the hood for 5mins, then restart your car.
