what makes a car a type r?

You can't just make a car a Type-R, that's what the car is. It's like a Civic SI or Civic EX, but just a Type-R. So it depends on what kind of car it is as to what makes it the Type-R. Such as the Integra Type-Rs come with the B18C5 which is a larger motor than the rest of the Integras.
