Will Tamiya's TS-71 Smoke over sms cf decals attack them similar to TS-13 tend to attack decals. I would like to tone down the cf a bit. If it does I'll just leave alone.

TS-71 can attack CF decals in exactly the same way that TS-13 can. I agree that CF often looks alot better with some clear gloss smoke over it. If you want a safer option, I've had good luck with Tamiya's acrylic smoke. And of course TS-71 can work, but it must be applied slowly and carefully.

best way is to use an airbrush... I applied many different shades over my CF decals, Revell black thinned with Revell thinner, Taymia yellow clear thinned with humbrol thinner and many other shades..never had a problem.

I used TS-71 over SMS CF and found no problems whatsoever. I waited for the CF to dry for 72 hours though. I also mistly sprayed over the decal before laying heavier coats.

Just to let you know, SMS actually released a revised version of the CF decals so they are way darker now. I haven't used them yet but they look really great.

But that's not new, is it? I think it's been around for a while...

Maybe a year or so? It's certainly newer than the regular stripey stuff.

No no... not the Hi-Def decals!!! I mean the normal carbon fiber decals, here you go Hiroboy (http://www.hiroboy.com/catalog/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=20&products_id=312&osCsid=0a5b9de8e387ab425c03ad60bec7f981) but he is out of stock. Are the SKU numbers for the opgraded version new or are they still using the old numbers? How will it be possible to differentiate between old and new patterns? Any idea?

+1 I recently got the new SLR Full Monty CF from SMS and I noticed the difference in color and shine compared to the XJR-9 decals (it is darker and shinier in the new one) will post pic later.

The SKU number is still the old one..but the name changes sligthly, the new ones only say "CF Twill Weave". I wondered why he didn't simply but a "b" behind the number or something similar. I just hope he will still make both "versions" because sometimes the old (which are more silver) CF decals are a perfect fit. I think I have to contact Matthew about this :smooch:
Ok as promised here are the pics... left one is the "old" version which looks really bright almost grey.

I have to say this could be one of the best CF decals out there. The look is really awesome (this really suits the look of the newer F1 cars) and if they are as good to work with compared to the "old" stuff then I for one will be really happy :iceslolan
