I am installing a trailer brake control and running a hot lead back to my plug. My two questions are, where is the best place (directly to the battery or under the fuse box lid) to hook up my power leads, and where to put my circuit breakers.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I would hook directly to the battery and place the fuse as close to the battery as you can get it. That way when you have a short it will blow the fuse killing the whole line instead of leaving 3-4 feet hot and killing the rest. Also the battery is pretty accessible in these trucks so if a fuse happens to go, it will be pretty easy to change. I hooked something up under the fuse box once and ended up blowing a fuse for my injectors which really made it run like poo. Just my :2cents: tho, good luck.

find out how much the amperage trailer brakes use. size the wire and fuse properly and because of the long run use the next larger guage wire. hook up to fuse box or battery juction box but make sure that the fuse is at supply end of feed wire. also use loom to protect wires running from feed source to rear of truck also if possible solder all wire connections so as to prevent voltage drops.......use good quality electrical connectors with proper crimp tool..................
