After playing a gay guy in a film, I can understand.

Biggest thing, I thought I just heard about him and some other guy pal picking up girls on a beach somewhere. It's weird seeing young actors die. Young people in general, but with actors, their movies aren't old and you still watch some and now, the person in it is already dead and nothing natural or accidental.

I concur.

I honestly have more remorse for his family and his daughter than I do for him. People that kill themselves doing something stupid deserve more disappoint than they do sympathy.

Call me cold, but I don't feel bad for people that hurt themselves doing something obviously dangerous/stupid.

Ditto. By the way Davo, you don't know if playing a gay dude didn't mess him up. Do you? Yes, that's what I thought.

Interestingly enough, anyone see one of his interviews about how he was complaining on not getting enough sleep during the filiming of Batman. Said he was exhausted a lot. And now he's found with a bunch of sleeping pills.

What's the big deal though of him being in what was possible an Olsen Twin's apartment?

Possible addiction due to use during filming?

Nate, I think what Davo was hinting towards was that as an actor, one is expected to decide on roles that one can obviously do and in the same regard, turn down roles one does not think one can do. So to imply that he would kill himself based on a role simply because the role had him play a gay man is not only ridiculous, but also insulting because it questions a lot of his character and but also his ability as an actor to handle a role for which he agreed to play (which coincides with some of the character issues).

That said, I don't think it was the role of a gay man that made him do anything, if it was indeed suicide. He probably read the script before hand, heard the details of the role and was given the choice to accept or decline, no doubt making a decision before filming began on whether or not he felt emotionally capable of committing to such a role.

^I know that. ut maybe he was gay and that was the only time he could be open about it then it drove him over the edge after late development of the issues he wasn't dealing with at the time. Almost finished psych major (which just means it's confirmed that people keep things inside for a long time) and I know a few people that actually had a the same dilemma.

Drama kids.

ASide from that, my original comment was sarcasm in it's highest form. Never the less, I feel little remorse for suicides. But I do feel bad for the family he left, mainly his daughter since he broke up with his wife. Although in Hollywood. Aniwho. I still come back as to why they made a deal with the Olsens. Their Rep said Ashley never lived or owned or anything in that apartment. Wrong info? If you read the 2 articles, time of death is different too.

jon@af

I wondered about that. I remembered reading a story in the NY Times I think it was, that said the apartment was his.

Shady stuff going on.

Swigz hit the nail on the head, but I fail to understand why that particular role had anything to do with it. It was nearly 3 years ago that post-production started on Broke Back Mountain, and if anyone is going to pin a role of ANY character he has played, it would only make sense to accept the demonic state of the Joker character.

Heath has boned a lot of hot chicks and has a beautiful daughter. I highly doubt his sexuality had anything to do with the overdose based on a role he did nearly three years ago.

According to this website (http://queensspeech.com/conversations/mr-sardonic/toxicology_report_on_heath_ledger_still_10_14_days _away) dated January 23rd, being today the 31st, it won't be until at least the 2nd, this coming sunday until his Toxicoloty report is released to the public (if at all) which will confirm whether any non-prescription drugs were involved. The report should be able to tell us whether or not the overdose was accidental or not.

That being said, you don't know the circumstances surrounding his death, or what caused his death? Do you? No. That's what I thought.

I assumed this would of been common sense.

Edit; it doesn't help your case to know that he had gone through a recent divorce and the mother of his daughter was going for sole custidy of the child. Source: http://www.nationalledger.com/artman/publish/article_272618533.shtml
