First post here.
I have a 2001 JGC that started FLASHING the check engine light on my drive into work. Now it is only 2 degrees here. Would the cold be a reason it was flashing?

Welcome to AF. You would do better to post your question in the Grand Cherokee forum as they know the Grand Cherokee better than we would since we all own and mostly deal with regular Cherokee's. The Grand Cherokee forum is located here.

As far as the cold it is doubtful that's causing the problem. If there is an auto parts store nearby you could go by there as most of then can pull engine codes for free and then post the codes in the GC section and they can help from there.

A flashing MIL (check engine light) means something is seriously wrong.
The repair manual states:
If the light is flashing, severe catalytic converter damage and power loss will soon occur. Immediate service is required.
