short shift kit??

hi guys
new to the forum. tried searching but didn't come up with a whole lot.
anyway, i LOVE the 5-Speed and all, with all its silky smoothness. BUT have any of you installed short-shift kits? or perhaps modified the clutch so that there's not as much travel?
i just recently drove my friend's WRX and honestly, i was a wee bit jealous of his shifter and clutch. so short and precise! thanks for any info...

i'm not much of a -take it to the garage and let them install it- type of person... i saw the install instructions, and it doesn't look TOO bad. any recs or suggestions before i hack into the bmw?
also, does anyone personally have the uucmotorwerks shift kit? how do you guys like it? thanks:)

I JUST SEARCHED YAHOO FOR "BMW SHORT SHIFTER" .....NEVER HEARD OF THEM.....PROBABLY B/C I DON'T OWN A GERMAN CAR

i have the uuc short shifters in both my cars and they are great. only takes a couple of hours to install, not difficult at all.

I have the AA ShortShifter installed (http://www.activeautowerke.com/) and the UUC RK3 Illuminated knob. Took about an hour to install the shifter.
