Oil pan dented badly, will this effect oil being sent through the engine?

OK, so I got under my van and my oil pump is in bad condition. It's leaking a little and it's dented so much that it looks like an upside down mountain range! Will this effecdt sending oil up to the engine? I am now at zero pressure until I rev up to 3500 RPMs. I am hoping if I replace this, that my issue with the oil pressure will be solved. I hope that this hasn't damaged the oil pump in the process though. I'm wondering if the pickup screen is bent or sitting wierd due to the dents and is in turn causing a lack of oil pickup. Any thoughts?

If the pan is dented badly I wouldn't run the motor at any speed. All it takes is a few seconds with no oil circulation to severely damage the motor.

Gotcha. Yeah, I replaced the oil pan and pickup tube/screen. I still have no oil pressure. My old Auto book suggests a few things, I'm guessing it could be the pump. I already replaced the pressure sensor switch. I can tell that no oil is passing through the engine because of all the chatter going.
