Is this the new Skyline?

I've just been having a look on Nismo's website and found a brochure for the Skyline CVP35. Does anyone know of this is going to be the shape of the next-gen Skyline?

It looks very  but seems to have a strange similarity to the 350Z. I wonder how long we'll have to wait for Tamiya to produce this?

In America, right now, I know that it is the Infiniti G35 Sport Coupe. It is also based on the 350Z, for they share the same patform. I have seen this listed as a Skyline coupe also, and I am confused. I think that there will be a Skyline GT-R which will be different from this (which looks asthough its the Skyline Coupe) My two cents.

Yes it is a new Skyline, and is sold as the Infiniti G35 sedan and coupe in the US. It's a gorgeous car, and is getting rave reviews. It is based on the Z car platform, but has a much longer wheelbase. Think of the Skyline coupe more like the old Z car 2+2, but styled differently than the Z car. The roofline is very similar, but does not share any parts w/the Z car, or even the Skyline/G35 sedan.
I think the next Skyline GT-R will be a lot more aggressive looking than this, the "standard" Skyline. Time will tell, I can't wait to see the next generation super-performance Skyline and see if it too makes it to the US.

They certainly could have done allot worse, the G35 is a great looking car! That V35 GTR show car from a couple years ago was ugly in many ways.:)

V35 Skyline, Z33 350Z and Stagea are sitting on the same platform, the FM (front mid). The Z is the short wheel base version of this platform, and it will probably used for some Renault, as well. Both 4dr and 2dr Skylines have the same wheelbase, but no panels are shared, and 2dr coupe looks much better than the sedan. Some say it looks even better than the Z, but it's just a personal taste I think.
I wish Tamiya or Aoshima makes one, but so far, no news about it.

yup that's the new sky coupe. the first time i saw it i thought it was ugly but now i really love how it looks and hoping they'll use this as a platform for the new GTR. btb i got this airbrushed pix from best car, it's pretty kewl though if they've decided to use the current design.

So will the new Skyline GT-R share a similar body style to the G35 Coupe? And will it be 4WD?

I don't think so. R35 is alot more similar to Z33(350Z).

Indeed it does not look aggressive enough!
However, I like this design better. It is obviously based on the the previous model, the R34 but with smoother lines I guess. Still maintains the aggressive look.

It's more like they put the Z badge on the Skyline, since the Skyline came out first, and Z is essentially a short wheel base Skyline.

I am very confused here. I know the Nissan 350Z and the Infinity G35 were essentialy the same car, and I heard rumors that America was getting the Skyline is a form of the Infinity G35. But I didn't want this to be true. I would like the Skyline to come just like Japan's, like the R34, my favorite Skyline. If they want to slap Skyline badges on a G35 and expect me to like it, they are wrong.

The only reason there is a new Z car is because they were able to share components with the Skyline series. Both cars are getting rave reviews, and we haven't even yet seen how the GT-R will perform, and from the pics in Autocar, it looks quite different than the standard Skyline and the 350Z. Let the whining begin. ;) :D :finger:

Looks worse than the first concept! They all look shit, where are the twin lights on the back of the Skyline this time? It looks worse then an uncovered tin of :spam2: !!
Nissan are really screwing up now, they had plans to put a twin turbo V8 in the 35 at one point, sure there isn't anything wrong with that, giving it alot more torque and more power but the RB26DETT is the Skylines trademark engine.

Dude, the R34 is gone. Every company replaces their older models with newer ones. Even in Japan you aren't getting a new R34. Like the Camaro and Firebird, it's history. The R35 is next. Give 'em a chance! I also doubt we'll get a "Skyline" in the US, I think they'll just sell an Infiniti-badged version of the next GT-R35.

Don't ever say that!! The F-body will be back! GM know it, they can't just kill their best line of cars and never bring them back. Its a publicity thing that after awhile they will release it again because everyones hype has built up and GM will be able to sell alot for high prices, that way they get more money. Just look at what Chevy did as soon as they cancelled the Camaro line, they made an SS concept, that might be the next Camaro. I think that GM realised what they did and now they know it was for the worse.

You are confused indeed. :)
The V35 Skyline has been available for more than 18 months, and it is called Skyline in Japan. US got the Skyline for the first time, with a badge G35. If you put the JDM badges on the G35, you get a genuine V35 Skyline.

Still confused, but I think I am getting this a little bit. The American Infinity G35 came after Japan's R35, and is the US's Skyline. If I am right, than I am more angry than before. This is not what a Skyline should look like. What are the similarities between this and any old Skylines? I understand that it was time for a change in Japan, but the States didn't even get some of the nicest Skylines.

Try paying better attention. Nissan didn't kill the Skyline GT-R34 just to piss you off, they are replacing it later. The G35/V35 is the tame Skyline. Why not look at FOTW's link to see the pictures of the next generation Skyline GT-R...it's not like it's hard to find. It's not the same as the V35 Skyline. There have been tame Skylines and terrifying Skylines. Like I said before, give them a chance.
The F bodies are gone, who knows what will replace them, but the names will likely come back on something else. F bodies are fast, but they suck in many ways, they simply don't have the reliability or build quality that is expected of a modern car. If you think for one minute that's their best line of cars, you've been smoking something far too strong. GM didn't update them nearly enough to be competitive in the marketplace. My friend has a clean, low-mileage '96 Trans Am WS6. Beautiful car, brutal performance. Yet it is riddled with flaws-the headlight motors/gears are garbage and hideously expensive to fix, the window mechanisms have failed, a replacement windshield is ridiculously overpriced, the transmission mounts fail regularly, the car is full of squeaks and rattles, insurance is insane, the doors are ridiculously overweight, they sound like shit when you close them, build quality is nowhere near anything made in Asia or even most of the US these days. Passenger space is pitiful. Sorry to say, but the buying public basically told GM to fuck off, we're taking our money elsewhere. I don't blame them. Flaws and all my friend loves his Trans Am. It would drive me fucking nuts to own that car, no matter how good it looks or how fast it goes. I've been in that car enough, and driven it enough, to know it's basically a beautiful, fast piece of junk. I hate to think how much $$ it will cost to keep on the road over the years. They are best suited to occasional use to car shows, or racing them on track where squeaks, rattles, lousy passenger space and build quality don't matter.

Characteristics to be the best sporty sedan of the class, that's that the Skyline has been, and that's what the V35 is. (especially coupe)
The FM platform is involving a very important engineer, Mizuno-san. He is a former director of NIsmo team for Group C, JGTC, Daytona with the R90CP, R33 LM, NP35, and the V35 Skyline involves many knowledge from the racing field, the body stiffness, anti nose dive to name a few.
BTW, there's no R any more. It's V35.
Tamiya, Fujimi, Aoshima... why no V35!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't care if Nissan kills the Skyline because I'm not a huge fan of them. I'd be concerned for the fans of them though because if Nissan did kill their most famous car then I'm sure the fans would try to get it back, just like F Body fans are trying to do now.
You can never say a car is gone, Holden & Pontiac bought back the Monaro and the GTO, they were gone for a LONG time. Holden want to bring back the Torana now, that has also been counted as "dead".
An F body might suck to you in many ways but if someone buys one they will most probably be an enthusiast of F Bodys so they won't care. I said that its GMs best line of cars because thats my opinion, because i'm a huge enthusiast. The buying public might of told GM to fuck off but not the fans of Camaros & Firebirds. Theres a huge petition on the net in an attempt to bring the F-body back if you didn't know.
A good example of "they don't have the reliability or build quality that is expected of a modern car" is your friend. His Firebird might be expensive to repair or replace some parts, but a true enthusiast will not care because they love the car more then money. You said they are beautiful and fast, they sure are and so are new higher tech cars, and they would cost as much or more to repair then a "low tech" pushrod RWD car. Technology is one of the most expensive things in the world now, and when it fucks up or gets out dated it costs alot more then old things to get repaired or updated.
Just leave the F bodys to the pure fans of them. You can't give them shit just because your not a follower.

exactly, some people didnt hear or understand that Nissan is splitting the platform. the regular luxury version sill keep the Skyline name, but the performance version will drop the Skyline name and will simply be dubbed the GTR. Yes, the G35 Coupe is sweeet. But that R35, IMO, is butt-ugly. I hope it doesn't end up like that.
exactly, some people didnt hear or understand that Nissan is splitting the platform. the regular luxury version sill keep the Skyline name, but the performance version will drop the Skyline name and will simply be dubbed the GTR. IMO the G35 is sexy as hell, if i got the cash id get one in a heart beat. heres a pic of the GTR concept

Yea, it's pretty... strange. All I got out of this thread was that we will never get an R- Skyline in the US. :crying:

But you're gonna get BNV35 (?) GT-R like everyone else next year. Start saving money now. ;)
I don't know your sentiment to the R, but R33 and R34 are sitting on a dad mobile Cedric, did you know that?

Rumor is the next "GT-R" is getting a Supercharged VQ35 V6 engine similar to the one in the 350z but with some changes for forced induction. Several people have reported seeing Stagea wagons (same drive traing as the GT-R) testing with supercharged VQ's under the hood.

actually Nissan of US got the okay to bring the GTR over here in 2004, though that doesnt necessarily mean that will get it but its not impossible. plus if you want a GTR Skyline that bad you can get an imported one from MotoRex.

It's been pretty heavily rumored that it will be a twin turbo v6. eletrically assisted turbos to reduce lag and numerous other features.
probably will be based on the new twin turbo v6 they are running in the JGTC this year.

As far as I understand the V35 skyline has been out in Japan for ages now. The R35 GTR is simply going to be GTR from now on, there will be no skyline name affiliated with it. So the normal cars will be skylines and the performance car will be Nissan GTR.
Yeah I have heard they will use the same engine (3.5L) as the 350Z but with twin turbos.
Wish they had have stayed with straight 6 tho, V6's are too complicated.
Will have the same 4WD system as R34 with updated ATESSA.

from what i've read b4, nissan will finally bring the gtr to the north ame market. they'll use the infiniti badge for it, called the "infiniti GTR". btb nissan replaced the inline6 TT bcuz it didn't meet the requirements for the new air regulation in japan.

I was told the skyline is a G35 with 4wheel drive and More HP possibly Turbo. I have read several places that the G35, 350Z and skyline all share identical platforms. I believe that is a picture of the upcoming Skyline.

We hae already ascertained that that is the current 35 series skyline which has been out in Japan for around two years. The GTR will be based on this platform.
