Ok here's the thing, my fuel pump is dead. It's snowing out, its 10 degrees and the wind is blowing pretty hard so dropping the tank is not an option for me. I'm not willing to do it but I need my car by monday. So the plan is to cut a hole in the bed of my 96 s-10 blazer and get to the fuel pump that way. I was wondering if anyone knows the exact location of the fuel pump so im not just randomly butchering up the the bed?
thanks

Are you sure it is fuel pump?
Did you run the proper test to find out for sure?
IT Can be done on a pickup with some butcher work.
Blazer no.
Pickup you can remove the bed and get to it or drop the tank.

Umm.. Not sure.
Could unbolt the entire bed of a pickup but that would be as much work as dropping the tank.
I unfortunately think my fuel pump is dead too but I have a 96 Blazer. :banghead:

yeah its not the pickup, i might be wrong about the s-10 part but its the 4door blazer 4WD. I've played around with the relays a bit, jumped 12v 10a fused wire directly to lead to 3 4 and 5 got nothing, lead 1 blew the fuse which i kinda expected because it reads 15 ohms between that and ground. first time i read the resistance between ground and 3 it read about .5M ohms second time i got between 10-15k ohms. I read it a third time and got 1M ohm so at this point what i really want to do is see if I am even getting any voltage at the fuel pump. The resistance on lead 4 and 5 is infinant. All of the fuses in the interior fuse box tested good. I was lookin for an under hood fuse box but I could not find one. This cold isnt really helping my patience at all. I have also tested for voltage where the relay goes, i was able to find 12v at lead 2 but found nothing elsewhere.

just to add, ive done all of this with the far left relay because its the only one that clicks when i turn the car to the on position

Best test is to jump the gray fuel pump feed wire or fuel pump prime connector with a 12 volt fused jumper and see if fuel pump will run.
Also make sure you have good hot blue spark to plugs when cranking.
Good Luck

Yeah, I'll second MT, if the pumpreally needs changing, you only way to do this is to really just drop the tank. It is almost impossible to do it withthe tank in the truck. It also very unsafe too.
Remember the tank on a 4dr, 2nd gen, blazer/jimmy, is not at the back, but in the drivers side back left area. the spare is at the back. The 2dr trucks have thier tanks at the back, and the older 1st gen 4dr trucks had theirs at the back too.

You are welcome and thanks for posting back how it went and what you found.
Glad all is well now.
