Hi,
I have recently started building models. I bought a Taimya R33 gtr kit. I want the midnight purple colour it suggest in the instructions booklet...but i dnt understand what ration of paint to thinner i need.
It goes like this:
x-11 : 1 + x-16 : 10 + x-27 : 40
what does it mean....does it mean every part of paint i need the number of thinner next to it?? e.g 1 drop of x-16 requires 10 drops of enamel thinner?

Welcome to AF!
x-11 : 1 + x-16 : 10 + x-27 : 40
That ratio has nothing to do with thinner- it's only how much of what colors to mix to make midnight purple.
What it means is that if you want to mix 51cc of midnight purple, you first add to a empty jar 40cc of clear red (X-27 : 40), then 10cc of purple (X-16 : 10), and then 1cc of silver (X-11 : 1). If you want 51 ounces (or gallons), mix 40 + 10 + 1 ounces (or gallons) instead of cc's.
After you have the color mixed up, you can thin it as you need with Tamiya enamel thinner- but you will have to judge how much thinner you will need.
