Long story short...my car overheated today when pulling into my driveway after a short delay in traffic...fatal accident down the road from my house. So I popped the hood (after shutting down the car) and heard loud bubbling noises. Later on after the car cooled off I checked my fluid...oil looks/smells fine, level good. OPened the radiator cap to see if fluid was even getting there and waddayaknow.....the creamy white stuff.....no, guys, not that creamy white stuff...you pervs :D Foamy white stuff means bad news.

and the cap has a nice build up underneath

So I guess the smart thing would be to park my beast til my $$ for parts gets in then have a motor teardown party. Fortunately I can hitch a ride with Alex to work, but will have to find another way to school....probably walk since the school is only a mile away. This sucks :crying:

I like my green beast too much and it's paid off. $600-700 in parts now is easier than another $15-20,000 loan for another 5 years. I knew this was coming back when we put this motor in 3 years ago. Neons that rolled off the line before 10 or 11/98 had faulty HG's. The motor came out of a '98 Neon. Its been going since last July, but now has gotten to the point where now it's time to finally replace it. According to some people over on Neons.org I am not doing bad, one guy said he did a HG job for a kid and his fluids were literally like pudding  and he spent a lot of time and bottles of chemicals cleaning it up. He said I should be fine with fixing it then getting a radiator flush afterward. It's still drivable but I don't want to risk overheating it more. Once for a few seconds was enough :) At worst I will be carpooling for a week or a little more. At least this happened now while weather is still nice.
