Headlights started going off when tilt wheel was activated. They would come on if the tilt was in the up position, off if the tilt was down. Now they won't come on at all. Just running lights. Any ideas?

Welcome to AF!

A '97 should be in the C/K forum. That said, it sounds like a wiring problem. The light switch is on the dash on yours? Try wiggling the wires in the steering column and under the dash, if the headlights come on you'll need a wiring diagram to find which wires to check. It could also possibly be a bad hi-lo beam switch, they turn off the low beams when the high beams are turned on. It could be pressed in just far enough to turn off the low beams, but not turn on the hi beams. On my truck, there is a very small gap that is noticable if I pull the lever slow enough.

Sure sounds like a wiring problem in the column. The wire that powers the dimmer switch is yellow. If you get into it that's the one to look for.

Technically, the "Silverado" forum is for 99 and up model year trucks and the "C/K" forum is for all prior years. Posting in the correct forum increases your chances of recieving accurate responses.
