Welcome to AF!
I'm moving this to the Classic Cars forum, where you might have a better chance for answers. This forum mainly deals with the FWD version of the Malibu.

Technically Chevy stopped making Chevelle in 1972 and in 1973 came out with the Laguna and the Malibu but did not have the SS or the 300 anymore.

very common question and no. malibu was a series name like the ss. it was one step above the ss. the name malibu was used as a car name rather than a series name for the first time in 1997. the malibu chevelle is a top of the line chevelle. so you drive a top of the line 1974 chevelle, malibu series. oh the malibu chevelle, i wish they still made them.

This thread is 5 months old; lets try not to resurrect old threads as regular AF users find this a bit annoying.
I think this thread has run its course and is now closed.
