I'm about to go grab me a 1989 Nissan pulsar. Its ugly and all but i'm getting a good deal on a ca18det motor for 900 bucks! It has 175 hp and i think 185 lbs of trq! SO what you guys think? I'm still gonna keep my rex though:)

One of my friends had one of those, I think even the same here - and there is nothing available for them as far as mods - trust me, we looked. And since I own an import store, I couldn't even find anything. It does have the 1.8L engine which is nice, but if you are looking at moding it, may just want to stay with the REX.

They do have aftermarket parts for it. Heres the swap info
CA18DET - 89-91 Silvia
1809cc EFI DOHC 16-valve 4cyl Turbo
• Horse Power: 175hp @6400rpm
• Torque: 225Nm @4000rpm
• RWD 5-speed and 4-speed auto, FWD 5-speed
$899.00 USD
My friend knows a place. I'm not gonna do anything major to it cause i'm still building my rex. Kyb makes shocks for them and eibach makes springs. I can do a custom cat back and down pipe also. Its no biggie really. I'm pretty sure JE makes pistons for them also. Not sure where i can find rods though.

Ya, you should be able to get most all the engine mods you want, but as far as body kits and stuff like that - there aren't any. You may even have a hard time finding a cold air intake. Though you can probably find one that's close and use that.

Well i'm not really into bodykits anyways. I want that shit to be so ugly so ppl wont expect anything special from it hehe:p Cold air intake is not needed since its turbo motor.:)

I dont know if that motor is a direct fit though? Thats why i'd rather get that ca18det cause i know its a direct fit.

Well i do admit that it doesn't look all that but hey ppl will never expect that to be fast. I dont think anyone here modified a pulsar. I think i've made a wise decision.:)

I just did some flipping through one of our 4 cyl magazines... the ET Pulsar came out with the CA18DET standard as did the EXA 2 seater so I think you might be onto a good thing. FYI, I do remember the mid-90s when a guy built that model Pulsar with the same motor and 164KW @ the front wheels... so I guess anything is possible :) Go for it :)

I don't particuly like pulsars, or any nissans, but there are some quick pulsars out there.
The GTiR pulls atleast 200bhp (very approx), has a 2 litre turboed engine. I see quite a few driving round, as they are easy to spot with the huge hood scoop, and larger rear wing.
But i don't think they are sold in the states.

2.4? I dont think they come in 2.4 or 2.0? All i know is that here in the US comes in 1.8 and its called ca18de without the "T".
The only 2.4 nissan that i know is called the ka24de which is a 240sx motor. Sr20det comes in awd, rwd, fwd. Same goes with ca18det but i think they just come rwd and fwd. So the ca18det i'm getting gives me a choice of tranny i want with it. So i'm gonna have to get the fwd since the USDM Pulsar is fwd.

I did some more checking...
SR20DE came as a FWD but the gearbox isn't much chop for the DET RWD/AWD motors.
CA18DET is definitely FWD as well as RWD so the boxes and shafts for them are available.
