Looks like you got quite a bit for $800, hopefully a motor is all it needs.

What is a good price to pay for engine and where should i look? should i use ebay?

If I was you, I'd either buy a 6-bolt that's running, or build up one of your choice. Then do a 6-bolt swap, no more crank walking away worries. The only way I suggest building your own motor though is if you've got prior experience in something like that. Nothing like dropping a grand into a motor you build yourself, mess up on something small, and end up with a brand new motor that doesn't run. :2cents:

Are you looking for a 6 bolt or a 7 bolt? Built or stock? www.maperformance.com (http://www.maperformance.com) is probably the best company I've ever dealt with, so I would recommend them. Other than that, I personally wouldnt get an ebay motor unless it was from a reputable shop or one from one of those high volume "chop shop" type places.

6-bolt swap, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Yeah if you are going w/ a new motor why would you go w/ the 7 bolt? I wouldn't want crankwalk on a new motor, so go w/ the 6 bolt.

true but i hope i dont have any proablems with the swap

ok the engine that is in the car rate now that i said was shot well it runs but it has lifter tick or its knocking really bad im not sure how to tell. But anyways it didnt lock up so i may just have it rebuild but how good do you think the engine is if it didnt lock up. Do you think the pistons are still good then? the dude I got it from said drove it awhile with no oil so im surprised it didnt lock up but it starts rate up just really really loud knocking sound. How much would it be to rebuild? Thanks everyone sorry not to good with engines

Depends on how long it's been knocking for. Sometimes you can just put new bearings in it and call it good, but if he drove it for awhile with no oil I'm guessing the bearings/crank/rods are all scarred. Best thing is to pull the oil pan and take off the bearing caps and have a look-see.
