Question on removing inside bearings

I've removed the front brakes from my car to replace the rotors.

I want to repack the bearing while I'm there. The bearing next to the castle nut falls right out of the hub. The inside bearing is held in place by a seal or something.
Here is the pic.

How do I get the inside bearing out? Do you have to press out the seal? I don't have a press at the house. I tried to tap it out with the plastic handle of a large screw driver. I didn't hit it too hard, as I don't want to damage anything.
Suggestions? Thanks for the help.

the back seal holds the bearing in place-you can carefully(normally not successfully) pry it out with rolling end pri-bar. Seal pullers (with hooks)-will poke holes in the metal shell of the seal. The best deal is to put in new seals. There is more than one grade-talk to a parts dept. you trust. Use a seal driver to reinstall or clean flat plate and dead blow hammer-keep things square. lightly grease the inside(rubber edge) before reinstalling.

My experience has been that the seal gets damaged upon removal.
I always replace, they are not expensive. Look in the phone book for a wholesale bearing supply company. They are a few dollars cheaper than your local parts store.
One trick I use when installing seals and races - I put them in the freezer for a day or so - they will shrink allowing for easier istallation.

Thanks for the info and ideas. I pulled the seals, cleaned and packed the bearing, and pressed in new seals. I used Mobil 1 synthetic grease. Seemed to be what was there to begin with. The front rotors are back on the car this evening.
