Head Gasket Problem - Should I worry???

I am trying to find a 1993 to 1995 Ford Taurus Wagon. Problem is, the ones that look the best, with the lowest mileage I have found thus far, have the 3.8 engine. I have heard that this engine is notorius for blown head gaskets which is an expensive fix especially if it results in a warped head. Is my concern justified or, overstated?
Thanks
Thanks

Also could result in a blown engine due to coolant in the bottom end.. motor mounts are pretty weak also.. too bad because the 3.8 is a nice running torquey motor, which of course contributes to the ripping of the motor mounts.. all replacement mounts are pretty much the same, poor.. that said, we have one, a 93 which we purchased with 92k on it, the motor had been replaced by Ford dealer, due to total internal damage caused by above reference, at 77k, previous owner.. All maintenance records were available, car had been serviced exclusively at local Ford dealer... now has about 142k on it, amazingly the original ax4s trans is still in it, has not failed yet, which is a miracle in itself.. if you know the complete service history of the car, and the price is right, your call. This car we have has been extremely reliable with little to no need for anything other then routine maintenance..

Thanks Taurus King. The 3.0 Tauri were great cars. I had three of them and all were dependable despite less than stellar maintenance. All three of them are now in the hands of friends and two have over 225k on the clock. The other has over 260k and still running. The 3.8 I have heard was just a little too much engine for the transmission and motor mounts in addition to the head gasket problem. Thanks again for your reply and good luck with your Taurus. They're good ole girls.
