hello to All!
I am really hoping you all can help me with my problem. I have a 2004 Jeep Cherokee, and it has been running a little under the weather for the past couple weeks. But this Saturday, it became a major issue. It started, but when kept idle, it dies. I started it again, and put it in drive, it moved forward (hard to accelerate) and when I took my foot off the gas, it died. Sometimes it wouldn't start at all. I finally got it to a mechanic, but he wants to do "Exploratory Surgery" to try and find the problem... and to be honest, that makes my pocket book VERY nervous... :uhoh:
Do you have any idea what this may be?
Thank you all so much for your time!

When is the last time you had a tune up? Plugs, Wires, Cap, Etc.

First, you don't have a Cherokee. They went out of production in 2001. You may have a GRAND Cherokee which is a different model. There is a Grand Cherokee forum and you may have better luck in there.
Next, go to a local autoparts store, such as AutoZone, Pep Boys, Napa, etc, and have them pull the diagnostic codes. The codes will point you in the right direction.

Ehhh... My other post may convey the wrong meaning. I certainly didn't mean to sound harsh. The folks in the GC forum are best suited to help since they are typically more familiar with the GC.
Pulling the codes should help point to the culprit and speed things up.
Oh, and Welcome to AF.
