I know I've seen this listed, but did a search and came up with nothing. How do I know what model of Alero I have? It's an 02, v6, auto, no sunroof but power everything. 16 inch shiny alloys instead of the more brushed ones.
Thanks,
Mike

Best thing to do is make an inquiry through a local GM dealer. All they need is the VIN.

It sounds like you have a GLS model. Are your seats leather or cloth? Mine is a GL2 because I confirmed via the VIN and it has options like 16" wheels with the GoodYear Eagle RSA tires not seen on the GX or regular GL (GL1) models. Also, the same suspension as the Grand Am GT.

Thanks for the response Bob. I called GM dealer and they said it is a GLS. I really wasn't that concerned with which it is except for tires. I need to get 2 new ones and the old ones aren't made anymore. I contacted Firestone and they said it has the wrong size tires. The sticker on the door also says it has 15" wheels. As I've mentioned before, I bought it nearly completely rebuilt from a wreck. I suspect they put 16" wheels from another Alero, because they are definitely stock. Oh well, I like 16's better, I will decide whether to put the same size it has on it now (P205/55R16) or the correct ones (P225/50R16). BTW, it has cloth interior. Thanks again.

You can also tell the model (and a lot more) about your car by looking under the spare tire cover and getting the RPO codes. For example, if your car came with the 16 inch wheels, you will see a PY0 code on the sticker. W33 means your car is a GLS.
Here is the link to a site that can interpret the codes:

I totally forgot about the RPO codes! Thanks Iflylow, I'll check them.

I bought it nearly completely rebuilt from a wreck.

Be sure to check the that the VIN on the RPO sticker matches the VIN of the rest of the car-it's easy to swap out spare tire covers...
