Lol, my first kit was a mercedes benz I gof for my 14th birthday or so. I brush painted it completely and it looked even worse (maybe also cuz it was a Revell kit :D). It has a nice place now in my gallery of shame.

I agree with Vric, and at least the guy is starting modelling, it means there is one more model builder out there, which means there is one more person keeping the hobby alive.

Hmm.. At least he build it.
Everyone goes through the stage of newbie, everyone will learn as they go on ;)

5ynergyx,

I think you are being a little harsh on the guy, lets look at what went wrong although im not as exprienced as Ray and Vric and basically most other people of this board all I can see that is wrong is the window frames are smugded, clear plastic parts have a lot of fogging and the rear tail lights arent painted. I actually think he did a good job on the body itself and the yellow looks good on it, the tyres, wheels, mufflers and chasis of the car all look good to me. So certainly a lot more plus points then negative ones.

Makes me wonder if I will even put my Ferrari F310b up here when I am finished (Yeah Ray I know, I think I am officially the slowest builder here) but good news is its almost there.

Everyone started out this way, some not doing panel lines along the way, some not spraying their kits,
AT LEAST THIS FELLOW TRIED HIS PANEL LINES!!

my first tamiya model looked worse even if it was painted. cut the guy some slack. it took courage and pride to post those pictures and we should at least appreciate that the pictures are of good quality. :p

I totally agree!:)
my first models were heaps of parts, desperately trying to form a car!
at least his car stands with its four tyres on the ground! He should be proud of it!

I feel that he is a true modeller, willing to show ppl a kit that went a little wrong and not afraid of negative comments. I admire him for this.

How many of us are willing to show ppl their first kit?
Not many I guess...

I would love to show my first model but I built it about 23 years ago and I don't remember which car it was!:( I think that guy did WAAAAAY better than I did! He deserves a lot of credit!

I think he did a rather good job for a first kit. My first kit wasn't even painted and there were even patches of glue everywhere.

what happened to that miata?? did it get burnt?? jk

for attempting a GT3 for your first model is taking on alot of work..i mean p man just did his a couple of months ago. but for the first model it wasn too bad..just the glue needs some work...and i know i hve never put any of my models on here so i shouldnt say too much.

my first model was a revell Covette Stingray Convertible..it turned out great except the fact that i didnt paint it...and my dad helped out alot with it :D

i think his 1st miata got crashed along the highway and caught fire...kekeke...

a true modeler will not be afraid of failure, keeps on trying and improving and with some brains...

:) My 1st kit was a Tamiya RX7 - the interior came out ok, but the body...<hangs head in shame>... Well anyways, I've decided to strip the paint and give scratch building a go.

Yeah your right, sorry Jay didnt mean to steal your 'mantle'...maybe i should just think of myself as a 'non=modeler' at the mo, hopefully that will change when the damn revell enamels dry.

5ynergyx, sorry didnt mean to take you up wrong, didnt realise you just wanted to see or hear about other peoples first attempts, thought you were just trying to have a cheap laugh at the guy....No hard feelings??? Hopefully you will see my first attempt soon (says he with fingers and everything else crossed)

My first automotive kit was an AMT Dodge Viper. I used automotive spray paints (without primer or clear). It had some runs here and there. It did not sit on all four wheels. I displayed it with the hood up and that was wonky. Pretty bad, but ok for a 1st attempt. I've still got it in the attic/loft.

OK guys, here's the critique on this guys kit:

First off, Dublinguy, and srlxy: No paint or panel lines here lads. This is a straight plastic body. No paint or anything, that's what comes out the box (this is a yellow molded GT3 from Tamiya, same as PMan did)

He's not got too steady a hand on the brush, looking at the window surrounds.

No decals anywhere

BADLY hazed the glass with glue on headlights and taillights

'Glue and Run' - the rear-view mirror and front number plates have 'settled', and not been put back. You need to hold these a little while, as we all know. Same goes for the top wing on the back - it's settled and lost alignment.

Body placement is incorrect (actually, I think he's used the wrong suspension, as there is 'standard' and 'lowered' in the kit - read the instructions)

Wing mirrors - didn't paint them, but that's as with the rest of the body.

Don't get me wrong though - he's a newbie, this is obviously his first kit. He'll learn, and hopefully he has someone around that can point out his mistakes and help him along the way to improve. He's obviously pleased to get into the hobby, and looking to improve, as he's put pics on the net.

Overall - not a bad build, all things considered. No glue smudges all over the place or anything, so he's not doing too bad. A little patience, and he'll get there soon enough...

My first kit was a Snap-tite Ferrari. My dad helped me with it. We painted it some. The black from the interior showed through door panels though. I destroied that one playing War:devil:

I think my second kit was a Snap Tite Bronco, built solely by me and for the same purpose:bloated: I think I have a little too much time invested in them to play war now though

it looks fine to me. Why you edit your post again, afraid AF member flame you up? Don't get too arrogent so early just because people praise on your models, they are only show a friendly way. Everyone had their very first stage, mine is alot worse than this guy. My body is hand painted and glue with UHU glue. So this guy is very good, even better than me after a few more try.:D My 5cent.

I edit my post because i thought i put my words in a wrong way and it's mistaken... I'm not arrogent... i already said it was a misunderstanding.. I never meant to show i'm more better in modelling than the newbie... i even show my first kit which is more worst than him....
