wiper question

I got a 98 gt. I am having a problem with my wipers. When I turn the whippers on they work just fine but when I turn then off the remain in the up position. I was wondering if it was the motor or what would cause this. Any help would be appricated.

Do the stick in the upward position for like 2 seconds then come down into place?

NO, when I shut them off they remain in the up position.

The damn things are off track. Take it to a auto shop near by and they will get in the engine bay and tweek with something to get them were they need to be.
