Remote start on a 2000 Silhouette...........

I installed a remote start on my wife's Silhouette a few weeks ago and now I have a few problems. The first problem is with the OEM Keyless Entry. In order to unlock or lock the van, you have to be within 5 feet of the van. I have replaced the battery in the keyfob 4 times, each time with a different brand of battery and also reprogrammed the keyfob to the system. I also tested each battery with my voltmeter to ensure the battery was good before installing them in the keyfob. I cannot figure this one out and it is driving me nuts considering I programmed the remote start to be operated thru the OEM Keyfob. The second problem with the remote start is the bypass module I installed for the PK3 system. The van will not start most of the time when the key is inserted and turned to start. My wife has to turn the key to start and back to off and then take the key out 5 or 6 times and then it will usually start. The bypass module is a DEI 457GW. I have triple checked all of my connections in accordance with the manufacturers instructions and diagrams and all are correct.
Does anyone have any ideas on what may be wrong??????

installed remote starters are olny as good as the installer. if the installer knows what there working on and the autos computer systems and is useing plugin wireing that is interfaced with the autos wire and computers and then programed and tested and a good warr, yes, i have seen to many hack and wack jobs in cars. this bothers me big time the shops (installers) pull this crap off and then have the balls to send it down the road and expect the next guy to fix it. ( sorry i just had to vent a bit ) i am thinking that PK3 system is not programed right or the security system is not programed right for the installed remote start to work. try to program the remote a gain. there maybe a radio interferance problem if you have mounted the remote start antenna to close to the vans remote antenna (i think it's located in the windshield just above the rearview mirror) this could cause a short range for the vans remote. hope this may help you out and get that van working the way it should. 463
