Why...?

Please explain this logic to me as I don't understand spray painting the interior.....I don't know if you guys remember when I popped in the DSM forum from Mazda when I first got my eclipse but it had been completely spray painted yellow inside and under the hood and it had 4 mismatch rims / tires , trashed interior , missing parts everywhere so when I find things like these I reflect back to my own purchasing experience and wonder why someone would do this to their car....

Notice the circles...guess where the stereo is....

-pat , pat- it's ok man..these are the type of people that don't deserve DSM's.

Uhh I think it's just basic supra lights but you have to modify the bumper and rear 1/4 panels or something..there is a write up on how to do it somewhere IIRC.

Supra tails are ok.

What was supposed to be bad about that plain red 2ga RS? Looks pretty nice to me.

The spray painted gold engine bay..?...sickening.

It wasn't spray painted, it was puked on.

Are you sure your aware of what this thread is about ? :/ it's not doggin the 420A or the 4G63.

It's the spray paint man...Like I said before I seen the eclipse and fell in love with it however the one I just so happened to purchase had the interior ( all of it almost ) spray painted yellow with like...highway yellow paint and under the hood. I've spent a lot of time restoring the car back to it's original look inside and out and I look back when I see people do this to their DSM's and wonder ....why ?

I can understand someone doing it to something shitty like a crx or civic hatch or celica but why the DSM's ? They offer a far more sophisticated class/modernized look over the typical ricers....

Oh for the record, I didn't search the internet I just so happened to be browsing Ebay for Eclipses that were for sale - All pics are from Ebay :/

What in the hell is wrong with painting the interior of a car? I'm sort of offended by this thread. And matching the engine bay to the rest of the color scheme as well? I guess you might as well put my whole RS in this thread, because I've painted my interior (not spraypaint, but still), and I matched the underhood to the exterior.

This thread FTL.

Not all of those cars were that bad, but some were hideous.

Garrett - Your car actually looks pretty sweet. Most of these cars were not done right which makes them look shitty.

Some of these cars were hideous.. The gold painted engine bay in general... (what the hell was he/she thinking??)..but alot of these cars.. I see almost nothing wrong with them::

1st pic- This looks like its a girls car.. flowery seat covers.. not my taste but to each his own...hopefully "hers" in this case.. and so what if the center console is painted.. doesn't look bad.

3rd pic- Whats wrong with this one?? Door panels are painted.. so what? looks pretty decent to me.. especially if it was done with a rattle can.

4th pic- Wing needs to go.. but other than that.. this is seriously good modified body!.. nice molding, fender flaring, tail light conversion, and paint job!... minus to the wing.. this is one of the best modified DSM's that i've seen. Not a fan of the negative camber though.

5th pic- This looks like a case of bad masking!

9th pic- Stock eclipse?? whats the problem??

11th pic- painted interior.. look pretty decent??

15th pic- this DSM owner has a mesh grill instead of open space.. So what??

Why knock on people for doing stuff they obviously like?? So what if the car you bought was pained with "caution yellow".. some people have bad taste.. Painting interior pieces is pretty common.. I would love to get rid of my ugly tan interior. And the term "RICER" is making your car look like something its not.. like puting a turbo emblem on the back of your RS.. thats rice.. not painting your interior!

Hmm to clear up some confusion perhaps I should have linked the pics to their ebay listings..

Let me just note some of my opinions since this thread has turned into an opinionated topic from what I originally wanted.

1 : wire mesh looks like shit.

2 : you dont spray paint a fuse box cover , hoses , door handles , brake fluid cap , and other things like various moving parts which would lead to premature deterioration of the paint and over all look of that area.

3 : The red on white 4g63 was the only one not over done nor did it look stupid.

4 : All of those cars were on ebay for sale and I just don't understand why you would want to sell something like that..makes me question peoples integrity and morale.

5 : The base RS was going for something like 3,900.00 and it was a 1996 I believe and look at the headlight...hence faded comment. As far as the 'girls car with flower seat covers' I doubt any woman in her right mind would take off the heatshield ( or leave it on ) and spend the time to spray paint it blue...This should be obvious.

If I were to list a car for sale whether it be locally , long distance or via internet I would make sure to make it as clean looking as possible so I didn't seem like a trashy person. The interior of a car is a certain color for a reason...I think the DSM has a nice match stock with the gray/black clash and all black or tan..whichever the case may be but why turn the inside of you car into 5 - 6 different colors ?

People who are offended by me asking for a little clarification are the type of people who 'rattle can' the insides of their cars like I experienced with my first Eclipse. Fiberglass or true staining is a different story though and I appreciate the looks that can be made through fiberglass or stain ie : Blackcrows staining of his plastics I believe it was - they look awsome and not like they belong in a clown-mobile. As far as garret goes , I haven't seen his car so I don't know what he's done to his interior so this is for you garret ( Don't get mad :P )

Being in places like Tucson / Salt lake City and Las Vegas I have seen an overabundance of spray painted civics , preludes , celicas , eclipses, sentras , supras , rx-7 , mx-6's , just about all of it as the whole "Fast & Furious" thing swept through each one.

So all in all that's my thoughts on it you don't like it , don't post.

Based on the looks of the fuse box cover... it just looks like oversrpray from when the car was painted. A bad masking job. And the bidding for the base RS is up to 3,9000 or is the seller starting the bidding for 3,900? WOW!.. I've probably put about... $5,000 worth of modifications into my RS.. and I doubt I would even get 4k fo it.

For the record, Brian's interior was painted, not dyed. But let me get this straight, just because you don't think that interior should be anything but stock colors, that makes the person trashy and has less of a selling point in a car? Excuse me, but I thought that's what the automotive industry was about, standing out from others. And there's a difference between people that just rattle can their interiors, and people like me and brian who actually take the time to do it correctly. My WHOLE interior was disassembled (not just the front, or certain piece), cleaned, and sprayed. The paint is an actual interior paint (Dupont Vinyl Color), and was purchased from a retail Dupont store. It came in a paint can and was sprayed with a top of the line DeVilbiss paint gun at our shop. It does not look tacky, nor does it look "ricey", it flows with the rest of my car. I can agree that some interior painting can look shitty, but like I said, if the time has been taken to do it right, it looks very nice, especially if it's part of a "theme". The car was not made to be a speed demon, it's an RS and I figured instead of throwing tons of $$ into it and not getting anywhere, make it special in a different way, I'll have the Talon for when I want to go fast.

I have to agree with Garrett on this one. I too had my entire interior out of the car and did everything correctly. Although I didn't use Dupont, I used VHT interior vinyl paint and dye. I half thought about doing black, red, and silver tones to the interior, but then decided against it because I wanted it to look more sleek than stand out. It will already get too much attention from people in this town since it will probably be one of the fastest street cars around. The less attention I get, the better. I can already see it being a target for vandals and jealous people...
