Hey all, new to automotiveforums! Lookin real sharp! I was just wondering. I am looking for a cool beater car to have for about 4-6 months till i could afford something better.

I found this lemans for 600 bucks i wanna know what you all think??
Something old, lotsa hp just to have one last burst o' fun before i purchase a practical, economical, suitable (startin to sound like Supertramp? that was the plan) reliable automobile.
Anyways, any suggestions on what I should look for would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers

Welcome to AF !
If you're holding out for "lotsa hp" you might be a little bummed out because by 1981 most engines lacked the horsepower of their counterparts just a few years earlier. I'd seriously go over the car and check everything out to make sure you aren't getting into something you'll regret later. You may $600 now, but how much will it cost to fix the 'minor repairs" mentioned in the ad? If it doesn't need much and everything is new that the ad says is, then you might have a good buy on your hands.

Thank's a lot for the quick reply! Yeah that is a good point I was wondering what those "minor repairs" would be. I know there's no such thing as a "good" beater car...that's one of those oxymorons anyways. But if you had to narrow it down to a few what would you choose?
