I have a 91 s10 and there is a couple of things wrong. Frist off when u try to crank it over it takes about 4 to 5 times of turning it over for it to start. I hae even turn the key on for a min to see if the fuel pump takes a min and that dont help.. the other problem is that there is oil all over my air filter. and i just put one on there about a month ago. can somebody tell me why im getting oil in my air filter? could this also have somthing to do with the truck not strating up right.. another thing is that when im driving down the road and i wait a min to shift the truck seems to have a lil boost to it once it hits a high rpm. kinda like a turbo or something? if anybody has any ideas that would be great thanks....:banghead:
oh yeah the truck has a 2.5 tbi and is a 5 speed.

I had the same oil in the air filter problem with an '88 S-10 Blazer 2.5L. The thing that causes it is the PCV valve, which is mounted in your valve cover. Go to an auto parts place, give them your vehicle's info and what not and buy a new PCV valve. They're not all that expensive.
Then disconnect the hose that runs from your air filter to the PCV valve from the valve, pull the old one out and pop the new one in. It's not bolted or anything, it just slips into a rubber seal in the valve cover. Replace the hose, and then replace the little filter inside your air filter canister that the hose connects to. Your new PCV valve should have come with one, but if not, take the old one into the auto parts store, and ask for a replacement.
I hope that helped. Although mine was carbureted, I believe the PCV valve set-up is the same.
As far as the boost goes, unless you've got some serious custom work goes, there is no turbo'd 2.5L for an S-10. It's just the way your truck runs.
Enjoy!

thanks for the help. I have replaced them before its pretty easy hopefully thats what it is. I was scared that it was something really wrong with it. I just bought the truck a little bit ago.
as for the boost, I can deal with a lil turbo in a 2.5.......lol thanks again.
