UV Coating on Front Windshield?

I'll begin this a little off-topic, but I promise to come around.
I was troubleshooting a Garmin GPS StreetPilot I bought and installed in my '04 GP GT1, suctioned right on the windshield.
It lost satellite signal repeatedly, and would never re-acquire before 10-15 minutes. I sent it back for warranty repair, and got a refurbished unit returned.
Two days later, bam, same thing - I called Garmin, and they asked if I had tried it in any different vehicles - BECAUSE some windshields are coated with UV protection, and it blocks GPS signals.
I had no clue, and told them I'd check. I doubt it, because the sales rep mentioned higher-end names, like BMW, Cadillac..but what does he know about cars, right?
So the question . . . Would a '04 Pontiac GP GT1 have a coating like that on the windshield?

Most all windshields are coated with the uv pertection. I cant think of any newer cars that dont have some degree of tint on them right from the factory. You have the heads up gauge?, And if so do you have the unit under the speacial peice of glass that reflects that image or closser to the center of the windshield????

No heads-up display - I know most cars have some sort of coating on the windshield, but something complex enough to mess up a GPS unit is my question. I guess I'll find out eventually when I get my 3rd refurbished unit back, and I can always try an antenna add-on if it still gives me issues.
