Ok i was reading online today at work and found that some people who have the 1.8L eclipse motors have take the head and cams off of a 2.0L DOHC motor and they bolted right up to the 1.8L engine to make a 1.8L DOHC. Is there anyone who has done this swap and how do you like it?

If you are trying to get performance, get a decent car to do it. Even if it is possible to put the DOHC head on a 1.8, the head alone wont do hardly anything for it NA and that motor wont stand up to much with a turbo bolted to it.

i also read online that hp/liter on the 1.8 is better and that the 1.8s are built stronger.

Wow, someone has lied to you. The 1.8 is actually the worst motor ever put in the eclipse. The internals are super weak and has very little potential.

That is why you can never trust everything you read on the internet. Too much false information out there... :disappoin

The 1.8 is absolutely horrible as a stock motor...

... and has virtually no aftermarket backing. Anyone that even thinks of finding out the hp/liter of a 4g37 has too much time on their hands and obviously doesnt know a whole lot about DSMs.

1.8L v6?? Wow that incredably small. The pistons were like the size of my weedeater right??

1.8 v6. Are you serious? Haha look at all this 1.8 bashing. Anyway there is no hope for the 4g37 as far as performance wise. It's built for economy and thats it. It has proven to be a very good car for me, which is why when the engine finally goes, I'm rebuilding it and putting it right back on the road. My 1.8 has taken me to get countless parts for the GSX, and is not a car that I need to worry about breaking down. In the past 9 years I've gone through three alternators, a battery, and 2 cv shafts.

Keep the car as a daily driver. But, if you want something quick, you're barking up the wrong tree. 92hp to the fly is not exactly a track star.

Yeah..the smallest V-6 ever made :/ I don't know what mazda was thinking considering since they also made the KLDE 2.5l ( 165 hp ) and the KLZE 2.5l ( 200 hp ) I mean like..wtf right ? o.O

Anyways with the 1.8 mitsubishi eclipse at least you can almost double the fuel economy of a GSX =D I would keep it as a daily driver and invest in something else or save up for other stuff , Good luck.
