2002 accent wiring issues

I have a 2002 accent GS hatchback, and even when the trunk is closed the trunk ajar indictor light states the trunk is open and the light inside the trunk is on, what is also interesting is that the light in the trunk is on the drivers side, and the drivers side tail light is on bright red as if the brakes were being applied, however when the brakes are applied the trunk light and trunk ajar indictor light go out, it seems like they might be crossed somewhere, anyone else have this issue and could help me out

I would suspect a bad ground or a corroded wiring harness. This may sound strange but also check your tail light bulb and make sure its not bad. Sometimes the filiment can short out and cause simuliar problems to yours. Pull the tail light bulb and see if the problem goes away.:biggrin:

well of course before i checked back on the forum i pulled the wiring diagram from mitchells on demand, and located that the trunk switch is on the ground side, pulled the interior panels off the inside and saw one of the connecting plugs where the green and orange wire are connected, was corroded really bad at the plug, cut the wires back spliced in a new length of wire to by pass the plug and all so good
