Having problems with 2001 astro awd van. First we thought it was bad gas.Took it to a shop they hit the gas tank witch made the fuel pump come on.Got told that was the problem(would not come on before that)Replaced it and the plugs.Still won't start. The battery is good.It is like it is not getting any compression.:banghead:

If I understand your post correctly, the fuel pump and electrical connectors were replaced, and the engine will crank but not start, correct?

If so, the fuel pressure still needs to be verified. A new fuel filter should ALWAYS be installed with a new pump. The pressure also needs to be tested to verify the presence of at least 61 PSIG with the pump running its prime cycle. If pressure is low, voltage at the pump needs to be verified right at the pump connector (with the pump in circuit and running). The ground can be an issue, as well as the relay, the UEC relay socket and bussing, and the connections between. If voltage is correct, the filter is clean, and pressure is still low, the regulator is suspect.

Very much true.. I however tend to believe they may have installed the wrong pump.. it's very easy to do now days... simple pressure test will tell
the tell. Heck I replaced mine and could even hear it come on but no fire.
Did a pressure test and had a Big 14psi which just wasn't going to cut the
mustard. Wrong pump...

It is true that a smack of the tank with a rubber mallet will produce a
start up but it can also fix a ground issue for a few seconds. If after
checking that and cleaning all terminals I would tend to think the regulator
may be at fault, However I have seen a temp sensor loose it's ground by
faulty sensor and keep the engine from starting. Don't ask me I didn't design
it... lol.:banghead:
