Hello
I have a 2001 Camry. When the car is turned off, the lights will not go out untill the drivers side door is open. I have turned the car off while waiting for someone and forgot to open the door and the battery goes dead in less then a half hour. Is this normal?
thank you
jeanne

Yes, this is normal.
The lights/headlights going out when the engine is not running; drivers side door open and in the off position is a convenience feature for people who exit there cars and forget to turn off their headlights.:frown:
The bottom line is you have to make it a habit to shut off your lights when the engine is not running. no dead battery this way. take care.

if it's with the full headlights on, then yes this is normal. If its just with the corner (orange) lights or with even just daytime running lights (if equipped), then it sounds like you need a new battery.
