Never saw so many threads about Vw kits so I had to start one too :grinyes:
I received today my Aoshima wheels from the 'Custom wheels and Kaļ parts' kit and could not resist to put them under Fujimi's Golf1 Gti.

So, I start to work on ...

As it will be white as the 911R (see other WIP thread), I'll paint both bodies at the same time.

Those are some 'loud' seats!

I know but it's the typical pattern for pre-1980 interiors .
There are some inconsistencies in the kit (post-80 dashboard with pre-80 steering-wheel. The other steering-wheel given with the kit is for the LX version.) so I had to choose between both interiors, pre-1980 and post-1980.
I don't like the post-80 version VVV

To AmazonSprite > It will have the european slim plastic bumpers, only these are given in the kit.

Hi Deedlit,

A like the grill but I have two comments:

1. Firstable, "red line" is perfect, how did you make it?!
2. I know grill is not finished, but about VW logo, Will you add black into the circle? it could reinforce "VW" letters. What do you think?

Hi Jorge, to answer your questions:

1: I carefully painted the line with a brush and Humbrol paints. I first sprayed everything black, then carefully painted the line silver (to make red brighter after) and finally red. What I messed inside the grill was erased with a thin black drawing marker, and outside with a thick marker.

2: the logo will receive a black wash at the end to reinforce the VW engraving. But all the outside weathering will be done at the end, when I won't need to manipulate the car too much

Ah - that's what I meant by the bigger bumpers, as opposed to the much thinner ones fitted to the first Mk1s (like the one in the pic on the first page) :)

The banded steels and stance look really great! :smokin:

Test fitting the grill (which is finished), body polished with Tamiya compound. It will get the final polishing with Tamiya polish at the very end, after painting the side lines, window rubber,... The masking is currently in progress.

The car is finished at 99.999995% and will be achieved tonight :p . So, to make you wait until tomorrow for the final pics, here are 2 (bad) pictures of the interior as it was integrated in the body.
